The Friendship-Jealousy Trap

We’re more threatened when our friends out-do us than when a stranger bests us in the same way, reports The New York Times’ Tim Herrera. That’s because we are psychologically primed to compare ourselves most to those closest to us, even to the point of subconsciously sabotaging our friends’ efforts. You can choose to be proud of your friends instead. Remember that you do not have the same exact goals as them and that their achievements don’t take anything away from yours.
